Players never complain about pain, heat, cold, blood or rain. But they'll rant all day about uncomfortable cleats. The old saying must be true, if your feet hurt, everything hurts. But thanks to New Balance, finally, wide cleats are available! New Balance believes that a better fit provides for a better performance in everything we do. With players getting bigger, heavier and faster, New Balance is the first to redesign their cleats in a range of widths to help them achieve their best. A player's feet are his foundation. It is crucial to his power, his traction and his ability to cut. Surprisingly, very few cleats are made in multiple widths. When they are, the "wide width" models are made with an extra-wide upper on a regular-width bottom or outsole. So larger players' feet dwarf the cleats’ regular outsole and spill out over it. The result: poor fit, little support, ill-fitting orthotics and sore feet, because the cleats don't match up to the foot's metatarsals.
 To fix that, New Balance is the first company to offer different widths for football cleats. In 2005, there'll be three widths and two larger width outsoles: D width on the regular-width and 2E and 4E widths on the wider bottom for more comfort, a better fit and higher performance.
