New Balance Supports Breast Cancer Foundations through Lace Up For The Cure

As if it isn’t enough what New Balance has already done to show it’s support for breast cancer research and awareness. Once again they have reached out where they have found a need to help.

Perhaps you have seen women in your neighborhood walking with pink or white t-shirts bearing a large, pink ribbon logo. No doubt they are training for the Race for the Cure 5K walk or run in a city near you. These races are held to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Since 1991, New Balance has been a sponsor of this series, which is the largest race series in the world.

After sponsoring this event for so many years, New Balance decided to also design a line of footwear and apparel bearing the pink ribbon that represents breast cancer. They called this collection The Pink Ribbon Collection. From May to October every year, New Balance donates $5.00 from purchases in this collection. They will donate up to $150,000 to the Susan Komen G. Foundation during this time.

Today, I read an article stating that New Balance has decided to extend the Lace Up for the Cure program to Canada with $5.00 donations up to a minimum of $25,000 up to maximum of $40,000 made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation from purchases made of Pink Ribbon merchandise.

Whether you want to make a pledge, run a race, wear pink ribbon merchandise, make a purchase from The Pink Ribbon Collection from New Balance or just become aware, there is something that can be done by everyone to find a way to support the fight against breast cancer and bring about breast cancer awareness in the world.

Fighting for the Cause One Talk Show at a Time

There is an evil strand of flu that is passing around the office at New Balance Tampa, and as a result, my runny nose and I got to work from home today. Which also meant me and my Tivo got to spend some time together. Before my boss gets mad, it was constructive TV watching. With October, being Breast Cancer Awareness month Ellen Degeneres is teaming up with the New Balance and Susan G. Komen to help raise funds and hopes for the cure. Chris Mann & Christine Madigan of New Balance presented a check for $500,000 to Susan G. Komen. These funds where raised from sales of the Lace Up for the Cure Collection. In addition, another $100,000 went to the Komen on behalf of Ellen to help reach her goal of raising $1 million during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Not to mention all the audience members got NB Shoes. Beat that Oprah!

New Balance Lace Up for The Cure ™

We often talk about the Pink Ribbon Collection which bears the pink ribbon to show support for breast cancer. However do you really know what is behind the pink ribbon on New Balance products?

New Balance has a program called Lace Up for The Cure ™ . This program is benefitting theSusan B. Komen Foundation ®. The program takes $5.00 from all sales over $25.00 from any item in the Pink Ribbon Collection ® from May until November and donates it to the Komen Foundation.

New Balance has become a member of the Komen Million Dollar Council which means New Balance has contributed at least one million dollars through the Lace Up for The Cure ™ program.

New Balance is also a sponsor for the Race for the Cure ® races. New Balance has sponsored these races for 15 years. These races are held across the world to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.
The Race for the Cure ® races are the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world.

So now when you see the pink ribbon on a New Balance product you will know that it is there to show strong support in the fight against breast cancer.

Have you done a self exam lately?
