Sit and Fit, That Is What New Balance Recommends

What is all this talk about fit with New Balance? Are they making it their mission to make sure your shoes fit? I heard a recently radio advertisement from a local New Balance store that went something like this… “Are for ready to purchase some new athletic shoes? We’ve developed a revolutionary way to make sure shoes fit perfectly. We measure your feet.” Said the announcer.

Hmm, is that a new concept? So I decided to go shopping for shoes. You know what, I went to about 5 stores and none of them asked to measure my foot. Do you think that you know your shoe size? Or was that the shoe size you wore 10 years ago? Or was that the size you wore 25 lbs ago. Or before you had that baby? Hmm, maybe we should expect to have our feet measured to fit, especially if we want our shoes to feel good, after all, isn’t that why we wear New Balance.

Difference in Last Fit

This is often a question a customer: If I wear a New Balance shoe that in on a SL-2 last, would I wear the same size in a SL-1 last? The answer is no.

The reason the sizing in a shoe is different is because the SL-2 last has a wider and higher toe box. And if you are used to that extra room, the SL-1 will feel tighter on your foot and generally will be uncomfortable. Just as if your used to the SL-1 tighter fit. The SL-2 last will make your move around and be very loose if you don’t need the extra room.

The difference between the SL-1 and SL-2 is this:
SL-1 is standard fit for all of these: heel width, instep height, toe box depth and forefoot width. SL-2 is as follows: standard heel width, high instep height, high toe box depth and wide forefoot width.

New Balance 992 Fitting Tips

Oh yeah, I forgot to add yesterday, if you would like to order the New Balance 992 for Men the sizing runs true to size, for women it runs a little short, you may want to go up one whole size.

Wearing your shoes short, what problems can occur:

  • Bunions may occur in families, but many are from wearing tight shoes.

  • Wearing shoes that are too short can cause hammertoes.

  • Severely aching feet, blisters, calluses, corns, hard flooring, rheumatism, arthritis, malformations of toes, fallen arches (flat feet), bunions and sprains all can occur from poorly fitted shoes

  • So do yourself a favor and get a proper fitting once a year.

    Lace Up for Better Fit

I have been alternating my walking shoes with my old ones because it takes me awhile to adjust to a new pair. While wearing my new walking shoes I got a blister on each of my heels. I asked Ken, our general manager about this, maybe I needed a different size. He relaced them in a different way and boy what a difference, the heel cups no longer slipped up and down on my foot. So
check out how New Balance suggests that you lace up for fit.
    The following issues are addressed:

  • Heel slippage.

  • Toe problems.

  • Hi arch.

  • Narrow heel, wide forefoot.

  • Pain on the top of your foot.

    New Balance Shoes Fit

    New Balance shoes fit.

Just as an example, these babies come in a bunch of sizes. 50 variations of widths and sizes to be exact are offered in the Men's M719SB.

For instance in a Men's D width- The sizing chart starts at 7 and goes up to size 18. Wow , what a size range. Then New Balance offers the M719SB 2E and 4E witdths. So many sizes, so sure you will find a perfect fit.

I believe the reason most people love New Balance is that when they finally buy New Balance, and are finally fitted correctly, a person learns their true size. No need to crunch your foot into a shoe that is not offered in width.

Converts from other brands know why their feet finally feel good, they are finally wearing your perfect fit.

To get your perfect fit at any of the New Balance concept stores, they all have trained fitters.
