The New Balance campaign called For Love or Money comes to my mind often when I read a sports story, whether it be a good or bad one. This story coming out of Tampa today was a real "For Love" story. the New Balance SoccerFest will kick off with the University of Massachusetts men's soccer team facing the Dartmouth Big Green. The Soccer Showdown, is just one event of the two-day SoccerFest which also features an all-ages tournament.

Also check out the New Balance Keep Fit Challenge which will run all day on Saturday, April 30.

As if it isn’t enough what New Balance has already done to show it’s support for breast cancer research and awareness. Once again they have reached out where they have found a need to help.

Perhaps you have seen women in your neighborhood walking with pink or white t-shirts bearing a large, pink ribbon logo. No doubt they are training for the Race for the Cure 5K walk or run in a city near you. These races are held to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Since 1991, New Balance has been a sponsor of this series, which is the largest race series in the world.

After sponsoring this event for so many years, New Balance decided to also design a line of footwear and apparel bearing the pink ribbon that represents breast cancer. They called this collection The Pink Ribbon Collection. From May to October every year, New Balance donates $5.00 from purchases in this collection. They will donate up to $150,000 to the Susan Komen G. Foundation during this time.

Today, I read an article stating that New Balance has decided to extend the Lace Up for the Cure program to Canada with $5.00 donations up to a minimum of $25,000 up to maximum of $40,000 made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation from purchases made of Pink Ribbon merchandise.

Whether you want to make a pledge, run a race, wear pink ribbon merchandise, make a purchase from The Pink Ribbon Collection from New Balance or just become aware, there is something that can be done by everyone to find a way to support the fight against breast cancer and bring about breast cancer awareness in the world.

I see many people in the Restaurant industry wearing black sneakers. In the past we have advised them to purchase the 811's or 925's. A New Balance athlete will be looking to defend his title at the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Timothy Cherigat, the winner of 2004 Boston Marathon will be facing some world class competition to hold his Boston title. Along with him will be Team NB teammates James Koskei and Stephen Kiogora, who finished 4th in the 2004 race.

The Boston Athletic Association remembers the legacy of John Kelley.

New Balance starts the Boston Marathon week-end celebrations featuring live statues posing at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo at the Hynes Convention Center, 900 Boylston Street. The live statues are New Balance associates, friends and family who live and run in the Boston area. The statues will be posing in New Balance apparel and footwear.

Check them out on Saturday, 4/16 11 a.m. - 5 p.m or Sunday, 4/17 11 a.m.–5 p.m. if your in Boston for the marathon on Monday.

Would you wear a skirt to run? Then slip on a cute shirt, go shopping with the kids, or maybe meet the hubby for lunch? Does fashion meet function here with this New Balance running skirt?

Looks like the Running World community is also talking about the New Balance running skirt ,might add they think it is cute but seem to be scatching their head about it, although most have not tried it.

It does come with a nylon-Lycra blend brief. That's good, that means you don't have to keep your legs crossed when you sit! Although I hear the trail runners prefer the running skirts because it is easier for them when they have to pee! Guess that would make it functional.

New Balance has updated both the Women's and Men's 753 running shoe. I really like the new colors of the W754WG for women. The lime green accents are big for Spring.

The Men's version, the M754WG looks about the same as the old model which always sold quite well.

The big difference in both the men's and women's New Balance 754 is the lightweight, breathable mesh called Air Mesh. If you notice, the mesh texture and size of the holes are different than the old 753.

My feet felt really free in these shoes, with a very light and cushioned ride.

What's this talk that sneakerheads aren't looking for Classic retro shoes?

According to this article, Footlocker Chief Executive Bruce Hartman made a forecast that the sales of higher-priced technical footwear would pick up through 2005 and stating that the demand for relatively inexpensive, classic style shoes like New Balance 574s-- have leveled off. I haven't seen proof of that in the New Balance stores but then I don't sell the Adidas 1!!!

Well, I don't know about you but I'll be cool in my $59.99 Classic New Balance Retro's.

Oh yeah, don't you want to know what a sneakerhead is? They are collectors of trendy athletic footwear willing to cough up hundreds or even thousands of dollars on hard-to-find sneakers that few others have. They even have their very own shoe collectors magazine.

I was a little taken back when the PF Flyers made a come back a few years ago. And really, those purple Converse really shocked me.

But you know, I really have to say, I can actally wear the New Balance retro shoes without feeling really out of it! I love them, and now they have them for my kids, too.

Every day I go searching for some worthy New Balance news in my pursuit of bringing you an informative, interesting blog for the day. Sometimes, I find a product, a shoe or some corporate news. But today, I found an interesting piece of writing that I thought you'd enjoy reading.

In my searching for some New Balance news today, I came across an article by Benoit Denizet-Lewis who is a Contributing Writer at The New York Times Magazine. The article was written in 2001 but I couldn't help but be impressed with how someone could write such a lengthy, interesting piece about Achieve New Balance.

I'd certainly like to take some lessons from his creativity.
