Mix in some self-defense training with your marathon training!

So who saw the kook that interfered with Lima Vanderlei during the Olympic Marathon Sunday? Unbelievable! That was grounds for a fresh arse whoppin if you ask me. Lima was leading the race and it was pretty obvious that he wasn't the same after that.

At least the IOC awarded Lima with the Pierre de Coubertin medal.

Perhaps it's time for Marathon runners to spruce up on some Judo to fend off the kooky fans that feel the need to get involved.

Were you also aware that a 31 year old man from Canada decided that he had to jump in the Olympic Pool during the Diving competition? Apparently he did so for a fee from a casino.

N is for ergonomics... who knew? I'll bet you didn't.

I thought New Balance made shoes. Yeah they sell some hats, shorts and socks and stuff like that but did you know that New Balance also manufacturers products like:

  • Eyewear

  • Sport Bags

  • Fitness Equipment

  • They've dedicated an entire website to their Fitness Equipment line:
  • Exercise Bikes

  • Eliptical Trainers

  • Most of the products appear to be offered at 18 to 25% discounts too.

So who knew that New Balance sold Fitness Equipment?

    OC Marathon Gold Sponsor

It looks like New Balance has stepped up to the *plate* as a Gold Sponsor of the inaugural OC Marathon which is scheduled to take place on Dec 5, 2004.

  • The Race

  • Registration

  • The Course

  • Most race web sites that I've come across are fairly bland. But not the OC site. This is a cool site that has a neato logo too. Oh and get this... there are 11 bands signed up for entertainment. You can review the bands here.

New Balance goes back to cool...

High School Students Suspended For Wearing New Balance Shoes

What do you get when you mix an out of touch school board with a pair of New Balance shoes? Suspended! That's right, approximately 100 Moss Point High School students in Moss Point Mississippi were recently suspended from school for wearing New Balance shoes that had white N's on them.

Here's a great example of a policy that reaches just a little to far. Even worse the policy administrators and school board are unwilling to discuss the issue with Parents.

You Might Want To Consider Dunham Too...

Ok I know what your thinking... "What's this Dunham business. Isn't this a New Balance Blog?". Well, yes it is. However, Dunham is owned by New Balance so I thought I'd squeak it in and besides I have a positive review.

I recently spent two 10 hour days walking in a a pair of Dunham 3 strap velcro sandals. I hoofed it through Disney World and Universal Studios in sweltering heat with plenty of water. I can report that I have zero blisters and my feet feel fine.

So if you were considering Dunham you might want to give em a spin.
