The 991 vs. the M2000

So about 3 weeks ago I picked up a pair of New Balance 991s; a heritage shoe for runners. I went with the Navy Blue.

I'm not a serious runner but I do run 2 miles per day at least 5 days per week and the most important feature I'm looking for in my running shoe would be cushioning in the heel. Because I have permanent nerve damage behind my right knee I tend to land on my right foot *flat* or hit my heel in a dragging manner. So while I require the cushioning I need to avoid getting a shoe that has a large heel or I'll be miserable.

For the past year I've been running in the M2000 and I've enjoyed that shoe quite a bit but when I tried on the latest New Balance M2001 I noticed something very different. The 991 had a much softer ride then the M2001 and with that discovery I selected the 991 as my new shoe.

The 991 has treated me well for the first few weeks. I received no blisters and the shoe was very simple to break in. I do notice that the shoe seems to hit the ground flatter with my leg situation but that has not caused me any aches or pain. I did run a 3 mile run last week and noticed that my left foot fell asleep at about the 2.5 mile mark; so I had to walk that off.

I'll chime back in at the 60 day point to report how this model is holding up.

New Balance 820 Tennis Shoe

It seems that New Balance has come up with a great model again. New Balance was very pleased to announce that the CT/WCT820 has received Editor's Choice in the current edition of TENNIS magazine. Unlike previous Shoe Reviews where multiple shoes receive Editor's Choice, the 820 was the only shoe recognized with this honor. What I like about what New Balance did with this tennis shoe, they made the Men's
CT820BK which is a black color combination and Men’s CT820WN the white color combination version. For women, New Balance made the WCT820WB, a white color combination with a touch of light torquiose. This color black/torquiose combinations is being used in the Women's New Balance apparel line. A great looking combination when worn together.
