Your shoe odometer reads....

If you’re training for a marathon 500 miles might last 6-8 weeks. How many miles are you getting out of your shoes? Do you feel that 500 miles is appropriate for an above average pair of running shoes?

I can recall this pair of Nike Columbia's that I wore in High School; I trained in those all summer that year, 750 miles in 90 days. Those shoes were completely worn out by the end of the summer training. But I felt like my shoes were worth the money.

New Balance 820 Tennis Shoe

It seems that New Balance has come up with a great model again. New Balance was very pleased to announce that the CT/WCT820 has received Editor's Choice in the current edition of TENNIS magazine. Unlike previous Shoe Reviews where multiple shoes receive Editor's Choice, the 820 was the only shoe recognized with this honor. What I like about what New Balance did with this tennis shoe, they made the Men's
CT820BK which is a black color combination and Men’s CT820WN the white color combination version. For women, New Balance made the WCT820WB, a white color combination with a touch of light torquiose. This color black/torquiose combinations is being used in the Women's New Balance apparel line. A great looking combination when worn together.

Why New Balance Cross-trainers Make a Difference

Why walk, run, bike or spin in New Balance shoes? Customers ask me questions like this all the time that pertain to doing a mix of sports with one shoe model. This is the great thing about cross-trainers and why they make a difference. New Balance Cross-Trainers are a step up from ordinary athletic shoes!
To my knowledge they offer:
More Support – Combines lateral and forward motion support that lets you do more. Superior to other types of athletic shoes that only provide forward-directional support.
More Durability – Durable abrasion-resistant materials last longer than the mesh used in other running shoes. Built to better endure movement-induced stress.
More Versatility – Designed for multiple activities in different environments – in the gym or outdoors.
More Benefits – It’s a fact. Athletes who cross-train show significantly improved cardiovascular health and general fitness compared to athletes engaging in only one activity.

A Fashion Statement

Earlier this evening I walked up to my neighborhood Fire station, that's Fire station 54 in Oldsmar FL. There was a tree lighting, Santa, Fire Truck rides plus free hot chocolate. While waiting in line I talked to a friend of mine that was wearing New Balance 906's.

I was curious as to why she selected that particular model. Turns out that the answer was the complete opposite of what I had initially thought. She purchased that model because of it's look. So that's very interesting because the 906 is sorta equipped like a 4 wheel drive. This shoe is made to kick butt off the road and on the rugged trail. Yeah, so it's because the shoe looks good in the business casual environment. Huh, go figure.

What is your favorite shoe?

New Balance has a fan in University of Virginia student Andrew Slay. When asked recently in an interview with Richmond.com What is your favorite article of clothing Andrew responded with My New Balance tennis shoes. They're more comfortable than other shoes. I wonder which model Andrew is referring to.

My current favorite shoe is the New Balance 991 in navy blue. What's your favorite shoe?

What to do when a shoe is no longer available

Have you ever purchased a New Balance shoe that you’re now unable to locate anywhere? Occasionally, a model will be produced for a limited time only. The CMX336Z is a perfect example. This particular model was made for a short period of time and is no longer available in the marketplace.

So, if you’re on the lookout for a pair of New Balance CMX336Z then I recommend you try the MX620WT.

The 620 available in widths D, EE, EEEE comes equipped with Absorb ® for pure cushioning in the heel and forefoot in addition to an IMEVA Midsole.

A kids-only *baseball* shoe

My 3 year old son loves baseball! When he saw the New Balance sneaker that looks like a baseball, he just went crazy. He had to have a pair. I like these shoes because they actually stay on his foot. No lost shoes after wheeling him around in the stroller all day. No more, oops, where did your shoe go? They have elastic and a big Velcro closure that goes across the instep which look like the yarns on a baseball. What a cool shoe!

New Balance 991... The original classic

New Balance gray 991’s are considered by many the original classic model in the New Balance line, the signature model. Since the inception of the gray 991 New Balance has expanded this model by making it in new colors. When women starting purchasing the gray 991’s in Men’s sizes, New Balance decided to make this model available to Women. New Balance now makes the 991 for Men in Gray, Navy, Black and now Brown. The Women’s 991’s are available in Gray, Navy, Black, Carolina Blue, and White with light blue combination. I have this model and think they are the best looking, most comfortable shoe I have. I love to wear them to run in or just hang out in with my jeans.
